Building Construction & Expansion
Look for updated information here regarding our clinic expansion! We are remodeling the building facing Minnetonka Boulevard (17408 Minnetonka Boulevard). That area will become our exam rooms and lobby. When that phase of the construction is complete, we will move the current building next to that one and attach the two facilities. We are excited with these upcoming changes!

Hospital Expansion plans
Welcome
Welcome to a behind-the-scenes look at a hospital member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). Trained professionals meet regularly to inspect all AAHA hospitals to ensure they meet AAHA's high standards for hospitals and veterinary care. These "Standards of Excellence" are important for the overall health care of your pet
Continuing Education
Veterinarians have as much education as physicians and dentists. They complete three or four years of college plus four additional years of veterinary school. They are experts in a highly technical field. But veterinary medicine, like human medicine, is a vast area of science that keeps advancing. For this reason, the American Animal Hospital Association plays an important role in providing veterinary continuing education classes to its members. AAHA also offers a number of independent study courses and other continuing education activities.
Examination Facilities
The exam room is where your pet's health is evaluated by your veterinarian. In AAHA hospitals, a complete history of your pet is taken in addition to a physical exam of various systems of the body, such as respiratory, nervous, and sensory systems. This helps to ensure a proper assessment of your pet's health.
Emergency Services
We don't like to think of it, but pets are susceptible to accidents or sudden illnesses day and night. For this reason, AAHA hospitals offer 24-hour emergency or emergency referral services. This means that you have someone to call, anytime, should your pet require immediate attention.
Diagnostic Imaging
Radiographs or X-rays are an important tool for your veterinarian. These images can help detect such problems as bone fractures and calcium deposits and identify objects in the stomach, intestines, and urinary tract. They can also be used to confirm or detect the presence of certain diseases. AAHA hospitals are regularly evaluated to be sure their equipment produces high quality radiographs with maximum safety for your pet
Pathology
It is required that your veterinarian be able to diagnose possible health problems quickly and accurately. AAHA hospitals must offer pathology services, such as blood chemistry analysis, urine analysis, tests for parasites, and many other diagnostic tests. Results are usually available in less than 12 hours. That way, treatment can begin as soon as possible if any problems are detected.
Dentistry
Proper dental care is important to your pet's health and well-being. Your veterinarian has the skill and advanced equipment necessary to perform routine teeth cleaning, extractions, and gum work. In fact, almost anything your dentist does for you can be done for your pet.
Anesthesiology
If your pet requires surgery; the first step is a pre-anesthetic examination. AAHA hospitals use gas anesthesia for many procedures which helps ensure a safe sleep for your pet. Most dental work also is done under a general anesthesia.
Surgery
In AAHA hospitals, surgery is performed in specialized rooms used only for surgery. Proper lighting, aseptic procedures, and easy access to drugs and equipment all help to ensure your pet receives the best possible surgical care.
Nursing Care
Nursing care is an important part of every AAHA hospital. Certified Veterinary Technicians help provide more efficient care for your pet by assisting in surgery, recovery, diagnosis, therapy, administering medication, and intensive care - much the same functions as those of a nurse or technician in a human hospital.
Pharmacy
It is important that your veterinarian have a complete pharmacy so the most commonly used pharmaceuticals and vaccines are on hand when your pet needs them. Your veterinarian is skilled in the use of these products and knows how your pet will likely respond to them.
Medical Record Services
Your pet has his or her own personal health record which is kept up-to-date in this AAHA hospital. It contains a complete medical and surgical history of your pet and is an important guide for present and future veterinary care.
Library
Your veterinarian is an expert in a highly technical field. But veterinary medicine is a vast area of science that keeps advancing. For this reason, a complete veterinary medical library is maintained in every AAHA hospital to provide quick reference for any condition that may affect your pet. For unusual or difficult cases, the medical library can be a source of quick answers to help address your pet's condition.
Housekeeping & Maintenance
Housekeeping in an AAHA hospital helps maintain a safe, sanitary environment for your pet. This not only includes cleanliness in the surgical areas but also covers sanitation in kennel, lab, and runway areas and even in the reception area. Your veterinarian has a strict program of hospital maintenance that ensures all medical equipment, as well as the physical aspects of the hospital building itself, is in safe, efficient working order.
Second Grade Tours
Dr. Leilani gives tours of the clinic for the second graders of Groveland School. One of the stops along the way is our Rehab pool which was quite popular: this is where we do our water therapy. If you are interested in water therapy please call or ask how this may benefit your pet!
